PowerUp has partnered with The St. Croix River Association and the National Park Service to present the new Parks Passport

[Stillwater, Minn.] PowerUp has joined forces with The St. Croix River Association and the National Park Service (NPS) to help kids eat better, move more and enjoy the beautiful Parks in the St. Croix River Valley! The partnership began in May during PowerUp 4 kids Week when Ranger Jeff from the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway and Chomp, PowerUp’s super-hero mascot, teamed up to show children how fun and safe kayaking can be right in the halls at Stillwater Junior High School. The partnership began in May during PowerUp 4 kids Week when Ranger Jeff from the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway and Chomp, PowerUp’s super-hero mascot, teamed up to show children how fun and safe kayaking can be right in the halls at Stillwater Junior High School. Now, PowerUp, the NPS and The St. Croix River Association have teamed up to bring the PowerUp in the Parks Passport to help families in the Valley PowerUp in the Parks all year round.

   
Now, PowerUp, the NPS and The St. Croix River Association have teamed up to bring the PowerUp in the Parks Passport to help families in the Valley PowerUp in the Parks all year round. 

“The National Park Service and the St. Croix River Association are excited to partner with health care organizations to help families stay healthy while discovering the wonderful opportunities to be active outside along the St. Croix River,” said Julie Galonska, Chief of Interpretation and Education for the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. 

The PowerUp in the Parks Passport is full of fun family activities to do around the St Croix National Scenic Riverway, the national park at the heart of the St. Croix Valley, and at nearby state and local parks and trails.  The inside of the passport has a map of the area to help you plan your Parks adventure. All families are invited to pick up a passport, complete the acitivites and win prizes.


Here is how the PowerUp in the Parks Passport works:

  1. Pick up a passport for your familiy or kids at any of the state parks and partner locations or at PowerUp displays at Stillwater Medical Group Clinics, Lakeview Hospital, Westfields Hospital & Clinic or Hudson Hospital & Clinic. 
  2. Complete the activites in the Passport such as  “Animal Aeorbics” or PowerUp in the Parks Bingo and more!
  3. Return the completed Parks Passport check to PowerUp by mail and we’ll send you a PowerUp snack tote and a Riverway dragonfly patch!
  4. Show others how you PowerUp in the Parks! Post a photo of you and the family in the parks with the hashtag #powerupstcroix“

PowerUp understands the health benefits of making it easy and fun for kids and families to be active outdoors and just spend time together,” said Marna Canterbury, Director of Community Health and PowerUp at Lakeview Health Foundation. “This parks partnership is another way our community is coming together to PowerUp for kids.”
